Board Members

Chair - Imran A Khan:

Imran is the Chair of COEMO and is Bradford born and bred. He has a BSc (Hons) in Technology Management and a Masters in Business Administration, specialising in Marketing. Imran currently works as the Chief Executive of the Grange Interlink Community, Health & Leisure Centre. Imran was also a Political Councillor and served on Bradford Council's Executive Committee, as well as the Vice-Chairman of the Equal Rights Sub-Committee and Chairman of the Manningham & Girlington Regeneration Partnership.

Vice Chair - Peter Tate:

Is the Co-ordinator of the Working Together in Bradford Project, and chair of West Bowling Youth Initiative, treasurer at MAPA and school governor at Newby Primary School & Bankfoot Primary School, as well as a management committee member of the Mayfield Centre.  Previously he has 14 years teaching experience, 20 years of Youth & community work experience in Bradford and was Director of Bradford & District Safer City Project for 5 years.

Treasurer - Mohammed Abbas:

Is a qualified accountant and the chairman of Bradford Eid Committee. He is also the founder member and ex chairman of Minority Police Liaison Committee.

Secretary - Yusuf Karolia: 

Yusuf is the Treasurer of Budhay Buddies, an organisation whose objective is to provide access to services and support / facilities for older people living in and around the Horton Grange Area. This includes the provision of a range of services, access to a range of activities and organised outings, visits and information sessions relevant to older people. Yusuf is also Company Secretary of Grange Interlink

Ashok Nair:

Is an active member of the Hindu community. Since June 2005 he has been the Honorary Secretary of Hindu Cultural Society. He has served on the Management Committee of Bradford Law Centre for 25 years, and has been Treasurer for the last 3 years. He is also community panel member of Regen 2000.

Shaukat Ahmed:

 Is a Project Manager working for Leeds City Council’s Major Projects Team. He is also the Chair of Action for Business Ltd which owns and runs Carlisle Business Centre.  He was the founder Chair of Manningham Housing Association. He was also an elected member of Bradford Metropolitan Council for 8 years when he held several committee and Labour Group positions.

Cora Browning:

Is a Registered General Nurse for the past 35 yrs. Presently working in intensive care unit. She is a union representative, Lead steward, Chair of the Bradford branch of the Royal College of Nursing, member of the Yorkshire and Humber Board of the RCN.  Active member the Bradford district women’s forum. Promotes partnership working with other communities in Bradford.

Asif Khan:

 Pak Kashmir United Forum is a community organisation working tirelessly to promote Arts and Culture of Pakistan and building bridges between Pakistani community and other communities residing in West Yorkshire. We organise in door and outdoor community events and Festivals in partnership with other community groups, media networks, businesses and local authorities.

Nisar A F Raja 

Is a qualified accountant, Chair person of Pakistan Community and Neighbourhood Association and Justice of the Peace on Bradford bench. 

Abdul Ismail: 

Is at present working with CNet, Bradford as a  Small Grants and Commissioning  Officer.   Abdul has vast experience of working in the voluntary and statutory sector. He has worked with Bradford Council working with the voluntary sector for the last 18 years and has recently taken early retirement from the Council. His last area of work with Bradford Council was Managing the Voluntary Sector Support Unit in the Community Development Service. 

Jenny Pupius:

 Has been Chief Executive of ABL, the community-led organisation dedicated to the social and economic regeneration of the disadvantaged area of Manningham in Bradford, since March 2007.  Jenny is a governor of Bradford College. She plays an active role in the Development Trusts Association, serving on the Regional Advisory Group for Yorkshire and the Humber.  

Javed Khan:

 Is a project Coordinator for West Bowling Community Centre, Quadrant Participation project and Manningham/Girlington plus PACT project. He is a management committee member of Girlington Community centre and a Board member of West Bowling Sure Start. He has been working in the voluntary sector for the last 15 years

Yvonne Hall:

Yvonne is the Managing Director of Palm Cove Societ which operates as a halfway house to give individuals the breathing space required to develop life skills and the basic knowledge required for UK living. Many of our residents have now moved on into their own tenancies and are successfully integrated into their new found environment, many return or telephone periodically to access our outreach service.

Dr. Balbir Singh - Co-Opted Member

After completing my BA and Postgraduate Degree In Teaching from Punjab University India, I arrived in Bradford in 1964 and ever since I  have lived and worked in this great city. 

I worked in Textile Mill and as  Bus Driver for a short spell. I joined the Post Office as a Post and Telegraph Officer and moved over to British Telecoms as a Sales  and Marketing Officer in 1981 and took an early retirement in 1994.

I was elected as the  first Sikh Labour Councillor in 1986-1994. Chairman of Bradford Racial Equality Council. and lead many other local groups etc Family Service Unit , Police Ethnic Minority Liaison committee, Asian Disability Action Awareness of Bradford Bradford Educational & Cultural Association of Sikhs Served as a local  Magistrate on Bradford bench 1988-2007. I was appointed as Non Executive Director of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Board and the University of Bradford honoured me  with a  Honorary Doctorate Degree in 2007 for my Community and Voluntary work.

At present Active Board Member of CoEMO and C'NET. Parish Councillor for Wrose Parish Council.
